Mary Behrens

Mary Behrens is a native of Montreal, Quebec. She moved to the USA in 1981 and graduated magna cumlaude from the University of Massachusetts (Boston) with a BA in Art History in 1988. She received her MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College in 1994. Behrens was an Assistant Professor in Painting and Foundations Art at Montserrat College in Beverly, Massachusetts from 1997-2005. She has been a visiting lecturer at many schools, including the Rhode Island School of Design, Suffolk University (Boston), Vermont College, University of Massachusetts and was a visiting artist at The Ottawa School of Art from 2015-2017. Behrens has been the recipient of artist residencies at MacDowell Colony, The Banff Center, Yaddo and was a visual arts fellow at The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts. She lives in York, Maine.
